Ordination to the Transistional Diaconate 2025
About the Celebration
All are invited to the 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, diaconate ordination Mass for Diocese of Palm Beach seminarian Jedidiah Preble at St. Joan of Arc Church, 370 S.W. Third St. in Boca Raton.
At the liturgy, Preble will be ordained a transitional deacon with other students from St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary as they move toward priestly ordination next year. Presiding at the ordination will be Archbishop Thomas Wenski of Miami, accompanied by other bishops and clergy.
About Jedidiah Preble
A native of Brazil, Preble is the fifth of seven children born to an American father and mother from Argentina. Although he is 41 years old, he said, “I am not a ‘late vocation’ because I was always attracted to the liturgy and the priesthood and I served at the altar when I was young, living in Silver Springs, Maryland, and as an adolescent living in Argentina.”
Throughout his early life, Preble attended schools whose spiritual formation had been entrusted to the Opus Dei personal prelature. “I would also take part in their formation activities outside of school,” he said. “This is how I became acquainted with St. Josemaría Escriva’s teachings regarding divine filiation and the universal call to holiness. In addition to this, Marian devotion and sacred music have been central to my spiritual life.”
After earning a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Dallas, he discerned a calling with the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate in Binghamton, New York, and in 2018 entered seminary for the Diocese of Dallas. His parents had been in the Delray Beach-Boca Raton area since 2002 and had developed personal ties to the Diocese of Palm Beach.
“I used to go to Mass at St. Joan of Arc and visit the adoration chapel at St. Vincent Ferrer during breaks from college,” Preble said. “In 2021, I decided to transfer from the Diocese of Dallas to the Diocese of Palm Beach and I enrolled at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach.”
