Pope Francis makes first public greeting and blessing from hospital
Pope Francis appears for the first time since his hospitalization from the balcony of Rome's Gemelli Hospital, before leaving the facility where he had been since 14 February. He greeted those present, imparted his blessing and gave the 'thumbs up' to the nearly three thousand people gathered in the square below who were applauding his appearance and release from hospital.

Pope visits St. Mary Major basilica, lays flowers before Virgin Salus Populi Romani

After his discharge from the hospital, Pope Francis made a brief stop at the Basilica of St. Mary Major. There, he entrusted Cardinal Rolandas Makrickas with a bouquet of flowers to lay before the icon of the Virgin Salus Populi Romani. The pope then returned to Casa Santa Marta in the Vatican.

Pope Francis is released from Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on Sunday after more than a month’s stay at the facility amid a series of health scares.
Before returning to Casa Santa Marta, after his discharge from the hospital, Pope Francis is taken to the Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore and delivers flowers to place before the icon of the Virgin Salus Populi Romani. He then finally returns to the Vatican, according to the Holy See.
