PALM BEACH GARDENS | Parishioners are urged to sign up now for Catholic Days at the Capitol, which is an opportunity to travel to Tallahassee, view the legislative process in action, advocate for policies that promote human life and dignity, and pray for and with Florida’s bishops and elected leaders. This year’s visit is planned for Tuesday, March 18, through Thursday, March 20, 2025.
“Come make a difference, visiting state legislators for public policy advocacy and human dignity and key life issues,” said Deanna Herbst-Hoosac, Respect Life program director for Catholic Charities. “You will also be part of a legislative breakfast with all our bishops and attend the annual Red Mass at St. Thomas More Co-Cathedral in Tallahassee. This is an amazing opportunity to experience the legislative process in the state of Florida.”
The 2025 activities, sponsored by the Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops, will include: a legislative briefing; meetings with lawmakers; an awards breakfast for Catholic Days participants, bishops and legislators; taking of group photos; and the 50th annual Red Mass of the Holy Spirit to pray for those working in the legislative, judicial and executive branches of government. Participants are asked to wear red that day.
A bus will pick up passengers bound for Tallahassee March 18, at three locations: departing at 5:45 a.m. from Ascension Church, 7250 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton; 6:45 a.m. from the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola, 9993 N. Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens; and 7:30 a.m. from St. Bernadette Church, 350 N.W. California Blvd., Port St. Lucie.
The itinerary includes two nights at the Wyndham Garden Tallahassee Capitol Hotel ($318, with one to four people per room), with continental breakfast, bus transportation and driver gratuity. There will be additional charges for the legislative briefing, Wednesday buffet breakfast with legislators and bishops, and box lunch Tuesday on the bus.
