Teachers continue to learn through development day

Staff and volunteers with Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach help transfer donated goods from one truck to another for distribution to those in need.

PALM BEACH GARDENS  |   The Diocese of Palm Beach’s Office of Catholic Schools began a professional development program for new teachers Oct. 3 in the Family Life Center of the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola. In four sessions during the 2024-25 school year, teachers in their first or second year of instruction will participate in seven engaging professional learning workshops and up to six days of instructional coaching.

Partnering with Catapult Learning, the program will give the teachers an opportunity to improve their effectiveness and excel in their careers, which will allow their students to do the same in their academic careers and beyond.

Attending the first session were: Rhian Alaniz, science, Saint John Paul II; Sabrina Benson, science, Saint John Paul II; Kelsey Bundrick, kindergarten, St. Clare; Christopher Del-Llano, sixth-eighth social studies, St. Vincent Ferrer; Owen Gibney, social studies, Saint John Paul II; Jilian Goddard, fourth grade, St. Helen; Gary Gorneault, geometry, John Carroll; Gregory Gorney, third grade, Rosarian; Jordyn Hughes, third-grade assistant, St. Helen; Michael King, religion, Rosarian; Izabella Pazienza, sixth-eighth science, St. Joseph; Jessa Pippin, art, St. Clare; Noelle Replinski, sixth-grade math, All Saints; Alexa Rine, first grade, St. Clare; and Alicia Winters, middle-school theology, St. Helen.

The coaching will take place during the school day, in the classroom or during planning periods. The sessions may occur in-person or virtually, in one-on-one or small group settings.
