A letter from the Council of Catholic Women
PALM BEACH DIOCESAN COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC WOMEN
an affiliate of the National Council of Catholic Women
The Palm Beach Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, with Bishop Barbarito’s blessing, will again present to exceptional young women in our Diocese the Golden Rose Award. Last year 22 parishes chose a young lady to be the parishes’ Golden Rose recipient. This year we are hoping for Golden Rose recipients from every parish throughout the Diocese.
I am writing to request that you consider recommending one young lady who is currently between the ages of 14 and 21 years of age and is active in your parish and community activities. Please share this letter with your Religious Education or Youth Director.
We will celebrate each of these young ladies’ achievements at a luncheon ceremony on Saturday, October 26, 2024, beginning with Mass presided by our Bishop at Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola and followed by a luncheon and awards presentation in the Parish Center. All of these young ladies will receive the Golden Rose Award and an individual membership in the National Council of Catholic Women. Furthermore, one young lady will be chosen by our committee to represent the Diocese of Palm Beach on the National level. More information on the Mass and ceremony will be forthcoming in the invitation letter sent to each young lady and her family.
There are many programs out there that promote academic or athletic abilities, but almost none that celebrate leadership, service and spirituality. Our goal is to recognize and promote the value of young women “making a difference” in today’s world, one good deed at a time.
Attached is the form for you or your Youth Minister or Director of Religious Education to submit. The deadline for submission is September 15, 2024. This will allow us time to invite your nominee and her parent(s) to the Mass and awards ceremony.
Thanking you in advance for helping recognize the good works of a young lady in your parish.
Sincerely,
Dorothy Harper, President
