Most Reverend Gerald M. Barbarito’s Statement
on Pope Francis’s Health
“We join with all those around the world in offering prayers for our Holy Father, Pope Francis, during his illness. He speaks so often of the power of prayer and always asks for the prayers of those he encounters, both publicly and personally.
All prayer at this time makes such a difference to him, and he is especially moved by the messages he is receiving from children in Rome. We pray, through the intercession of the Blessed Mother, that he will receive the comfort, strength and healing he needs, both in body and spirit at this time.
As we pray for his well-being and comfort, we also give thanks to God for the Pope’s fatherly pastoral care, even during his illness.”

As Bishop Barbarito communicated last week, he asks that all parishes, schools, and our faithful pray for Pope Francis through the Prayers of the Faithful, personal prayer and/or the prayer provided by the USCCB. The prayer from the USCCB can be found here. More information on Pope Francis’s health can be found here.
