Faith Formation

ADULT FAITH FORMATION

"The catechesis of adults is the principle form of catechesis, because it is addressed to persons who have the greatest responsibility and the capacity to live the Christian message in its fully developed form."

- St. John Paul II, Catechesis in Our Time

Adult/OCIA Formation: is the life-long process of finding and putting on the mind of Christ, trusting in the Father's love, obeying God's will, seeking holiness of life, and growing in love for others. In "Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us," the pastoral plan for adult faith formation, the Bishops of the United States set forth these major goals:

  • Invite and Enable Ongoing Conversion to Jesus in Holiness of Life
  • Promote and Support Active Membership in the Christian Community
  • Call and Prepare Adult to Act as Disciples in Mission to the World

Below are resources to start your journey, contact your local parish for more.

Inspire our actions Lord, and accompany them with your help, so that every word and action may always begin and end in you. Amen. - Excerpted from Roman Missal, ICEL
