St. Ann Catholic School located in West Palm Beach, FL is searching for a Part Time Band Director for Grades 5-8 (Monday thru Friday, school calendar year).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate all outside events for band including local and festivals involving travel during the school year.
• Facilitate in school and after school performances for band members.
• Establish classroom routines, rules, and procedures consistent with school policy.
• Plan, guide, and evaluate the learning process of the students in the class within the school’s philosophy organization and curriculum standards.
• Use formal and informal assessment data to design instruction.
• Provide opportunities for student self-assessment and monitoring.
• Provide the appropriate learning atmosphere and activities designed to maximize student competencies and skills for intellectual, emotional, physical, social and spiritual growth towards a successful future.
• Create a faith filled environment that engages the whole student.
• Manage student behavior guided by Gospel values
• Follow the developmentally appropriate discipline code set forth in the school handbook.
• Provide feedback of students’ progress to families regarding academic, behavioral or safety concerns
• Conferences with parents upon request and responds to messages in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates a professional demeanor and attitude in alignment with the school’s mission and Code of Ethics
• Supervising students during all student contact times/activities

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• Valid FL Teaching Professional Certificate in their field of study preferred.
• Practicing Catholic preferred.
• Professional working attitude and collaborative approach.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with supervisor and staff.
• Models Catholic spirituality, attitudes, and behaviors.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet.
• Excellent and professional telephone manner, email, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with Diocesan employees, departments heads, representatives of other agencies and the general public.
• Ability to multi-task, work independently and make responsible judgment calls.
• Adhere to the Diocese of Palm Beach Code of Conduct with emphasis on confidentiality and able to exercise discretion and good business judgment.

Physical Requirements

• Occasional light lifting and carrying of under 15 pounds
• Occasional moderate carrying and lifting of 15 – 44 pounds
• Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
• Frequent bending, climbing, stretching and kneeling
• Frequent use of both hands and fingers
• Occasional moments of minimal and routine hearing
