Cardinal Newman Catholic High School, located in West Palm Beach, FL seeks a Director of Finance and Business Operations.
The Director of Finance and Business Operations fulfills the mission of Cardinal Newman by assisting the administration in the leadership, development, implementation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of the business and financial operations that support the school-wide strategic vision.
The Director of Finance and Business Operations of Cardinal Newman High School is responsible for overseeing and executing all aspects of the school's financial management and accounting functions in accordance with the school and Diocesan mission.

The Director of Finance and Business Operations reports to the President of Cardinal Newman High School and is responsible for supervising two finance staff members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain continuous lines of communication with the President and other key members of the school on financial planning, budgeting, internal control, cash flow, and policy matters.
- Serve as the financial liaison to the Diocesan Corporate Board, School Advisory Council, and Finance Committee.
- Ensure the appropriate and timely distribution of financial reports to the President, finance committee and diocese with a full command of account differences and explanation of variances.
- Prepare all finance committee meeting packages, including agenda, minutes, financial statements, budget, variance explanations and other topics as needed. Attend and report on finances at all the committee meetings.
- Provide accurate and timely accounting, payroll and financial reporting for the school utilizing the uniform school chart of accounts and standardized reporting formats.
- Establish guidelines for budget and forecast preparation and prepare the annual budget in consultation with Department Heads, President, Finance Committee and Diocese.
- Perform annual analysis of tuition rates and offer recommendations for establishing annual tuition and fee rates ensuring that Cardinal Newman remains affordable and financially accessible.
- Oversee the timely preparation of all student billing using SAGE applications and the effective management of accounts receivable using FACTS payment services.
- Manage all bank accounts.
- Monitor investments and endowments to ensure funds are being invested consistent with policy and cash flow needs.
- Review with the President all leases, contracts and other financial commitments.
- Establish documented procedures for finance and HR and implement those established by the diocese.
- Assist in representing Cardinal Newman, as necessary, in banking and other related arrangements.
- Oversee all payroll preparation and maintenance, along with appropriate communication and compliance with Diocese Payroll and HR/Benefits.
- Formulate the annual financial statements for presentation to the auditors along with preparing all required schedules.
- Ensure that all donor related activity is appropriately documented, tracked, reported in accordance with established procedures, and reflected in the annual audit.
- Serve as the liaison with parents overseeing the tuition accounts receivable process, including proper application of financial aid, scholarships, and discounts; billing and collections; automated billing system; and reconciliations including collection of past due accounts.
- Provide timely oversight and budget-related feedback to Department Chairs, club moderators, and the Athletic Director.
- Oversee the accounting transactions for restricted and other development related accounts in conjunction with the Development Office to ensure donor accepted funds are utilized in an appropriate manner.
- Work closely with the Facilities Director and Athletic Director to ensure that appropriate insurance is held by vendors.
- Oversee state, diocesan, and local scholarship programs for the school including compliance.
- Ensure compliance with all State and Federal filings, to include complete and accurate W-9/1099, W-2/W-4, I-9 and unclaimed property filings while maintaining complete documentation of all related efforts.
Qualifications:
- This position requires on-site presence and is not a remote role.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or MBA preferred.
- 3-5 year’s experience on senior administrative teams and working with progressive financial responsibility.
- Experience working with SAGE and knowledge of Step Up is a benefit.
- Experience working in an educational setting or another non-profit organization is preferred.

- Strong financial and accounting insight to maintain the organization's healthy fiscal status and advance the mission of Cardinal Newman through effective budgeting.
