Director of Development - St. Ann’s Church & School

St. Ann’s Church & School in West Palm Beach, FL is searching for a full time Director of Development.

Overview:

The Parish/School Development Director is responsible for organizing and prioritizing the development program for the parish/school in order to successfully meet the changing needs of the strategic plans created by the administration of the church and school). This position is responsible for developing and supporting the goals of the parish/school through recruitment of new members, grant writing, relationship building, and fundraising. This position works closely with church and school committees and community constituents to understand the needs of the community and seek out new opportunities for charitable giving, grants and other forms of revenue to support the changing needs of the parish/school. This administrator oversees the development staff of the church and school and is accountable to the pastor, the principal, and the community at-large for the success of the school and parish’s marketing, communications, public relations, and development. 

Essential Communication Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Development/Fundraising: Develops and creates diversified platform of revenue-producing opportunities that financially benefit the church and school.
  • Parish Events: In collaboration with the Pastor & Principal is responsible for coordinating all fund-raising activities for the Parish and School.
  • Oversight of Marketing and Recruitment messaging intended to attract diverse supporters and stakeholders:
  • Communication and Public Relations:
  • Groups and Committees: Functions as the staff support for the School’s Advancement Committee, serves on the School Advisory Council, Parish Council, Finance Council and other groups in the parish and school to develop a consistent and organized approach to communication, marketing/public relations, recruitment, and fundraising activities.
  • Maintains the monthly calendar of events related to parish/school development.
  • Creating an annual development plan, communications plan, marketing/recruitment plan, and calendar of events.
  • Assists Pastor and Principal in working with the volunteers on the councils and committees to enhance the development effort and increase revenue.
  • Oversees all capital campaign projects.
  • Promotes and arranges for donations to existing Parish and School Endowment Funds.
  • Creates a donor database.
  • Coordinates educational seminars and financial resources for the purpose of expanding our families’ and parishioners understanding and discernment of how to properly give back to God through time, talent and treasure.
  • Oversees and markets opportunities for potential donors to invest in the Parish/School through: major gifts, bequests, deferred giving and other charitable giving instruments.  important to build and sustain relationships with current and potential supporting organizations and individuals
  • Creates and recognizes ways of celebrating our stakeholders.
  • Schedules and coordinates special gratitude events for recognizing donors.
  • Implements strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit and recognize all donors and prospective donors.
  • Identifies and assists in building respectful and fruitful relationships with donors and organizations who wish to be supportive of the mission of the church and school

Development Planning and Implementing:

  • Designs and implements the Parish/School development plan. This is accomplished by establishing short (annual) and long (3 year) range goals and objectives based on the Parish/School identified needs.
  • Works collaboratively with the Pastor, Principal and Parish and School Council Members. Assures the design and implementation of a comprehensive public relations and communications plan/strategies. This includes relating with these public: parish leadership, parents of current, former and future students, parish staff, members of the parish, and residents of the local community.

Fundraising:

  • Plans, directs and assures the implementation of an annual giving campaigns.
  • Directs a fund development program that includes individual gifts, corporate sponsorships and special event coordination including but not limited to: Annual Campaign, Church Pavillion, New parking garage & Playground

Grant writing:

  • Oversees donor research efforts and the identification of public/private grants to further the mission and activities of the Parish & School.
  • Works to identify grant opportunities for the parish community.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • Experience with organizing fundraising campaigns is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with the St. Ann’s community is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Internet.
  • Excellent and professional telephone manner, interpersonal skills, confidentiality
  • Ability to work effectively with Parish and School employees, departments heads, representatives of other agencies and the general public.
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and make responsible judgment calls.
  • Ability to respect confidentiality and consistently exercise discretion and good business judgment
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in development field.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet.
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and make responsible judgment calls.
  • Ability to work effectively with Diocesan employees, departments heads, representatives of other agencies and the general public.
  • Excellent written, verbal and public speaking skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving capacity.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional light lifting and carrying of under 15 pounds
  • Occasional moderate carrying and lifting of 15 – 44 pounds
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent bending, climbing, stretching and kneeling
  • Frequent use of both hands and fingers
  • Occasional moments of minimal and routine hearing
