Cantor - St. Paul of the Cross Church
St. Paul of the Cross Church is looking for a dedicated and flexible cantor to help lead sung prayer at Mass from October through Easter Season. This role primarily involves cantoring at our 9am Sunday choir Mass and high feast days like Christmas and Holy Week, with occasional opportunities to cantor at other parish Masses and sing in a small vocal ensemble. We also welcome support within the choir when needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead sung prayer with reverence and respect for the sacred atmosphere.
- Work respectfully with the music director, pastor, and others such as lectors and sacristans As required, attends rehearsals
- Along with Music Director, assure that the parish use of music conforms to Church and diocesan directives
- Participates and, along with Music Director, encourages parish musicians to participate in diocesan wide liturgies and celebrations when feasible
- Be available during key liturgical seasons like Christmas, Holy Week, and Easter.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Practicing Catholic in good standing
- Minimum of two years background training in instrument, skill in reading music and in transposing music is preferred.
- Knowledge of Catholic music literature
- Must possess a working knowledge of the Catholic Liturgies
- Be familiar with all parts of the Mass and have knowledge of where music is required
- Must have excellent sight-reading skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with others
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet.
- Excellent and professional telephone manner, interpersonal skills, confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively with Diocesan employees, departments heads, representatives of other agencies and the general public.
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and make responsible judgment calls.
- Ability to respect confidentiality and consistently exercise discretion and good business judgment
Physical Requirements
- Occasional light lifting and carrying of under 15 pounds, i.e. hymnals, music stands, etc.
- Frequent bending, standing, and kneeling
- Frequent use of both hands and fingers
- Occasional moments of minimal and routine hearing
